The University of Missouri Gene Zoo shows the effects of 12 different traits in soybean
Seven Leaflet causes leaves to produce seven leaflets instead of the normal three. Five Leaflet causes leaves to produce five.
Chlorophyll Deficient reduces the production of green pigment chlorophyll in the leaves, so they appear yellow or light green.
Soybean growth habit is controlled by two genes. They can have indeterminate, determinate, or semideterminate.
Pubescence are hair-like structures that protect the soybean plants from insect feeding. Soybeans can have scarce pubescence, dense pubescence, or no pubescence.
Non-nodulating plants do not produce nodules. Nodules form on roots and are home to nitrogen fixing bacteria.
Wavy Leaflet causes a wavy edge on each leaflet.
Fasciated Stem causes stems to be more broad and have shorter internodes.
In addition to soybeans, MU's gene zoo also shows effects of different genes on corn.
